![]() ![]() On weekends they show three movies, and on weekdays two. I took my youngest daughter, who is 21 and had never been to a drive-in, and she was just as excited as I was. As a teen I lived fairly close to this drive-in and I remember trips with a car load of teens hiding in the back, going in for free. I was blown away when I learned that this drive-in was still in existence as I was under the impression that there were no drive-ins operating. For us, and the rest of the people there, it didn't bother us! The attendants are very good/transparent about this and told us at the "gate" (where you buy tickets) you have the option to turn around if this bothers you. BE aware that if you see a "darkly-lit" film (these tend to be horror films), it can be a little difficult to see them on the screen just due to lighting. It was a perfect time to stake out a spot (we were still, by no means, the first ones there). You can't buy tickets in advance/online, and we were seeing a Friday 8:30pm showing of a new horror movie, so we arrived around 7:30pm. GET to the drive-in around an hour early (although this somewhat depends on the movie/time).Paramount plays their movies' audio through FM radio stations, and if you want to avoid keeping your car on and letting the battery run low, a portable radio is a fantastic option. BRING your own portable radio! I bought a cheap one off Amazon the day before and it was a life saver. The attendants don't check your car so as long as you don't have the food in plain sight, you will be fine! BRING your own food! There's an old-timey restaurant at the drive-in (it's cute and has '80s arcade games in it) but the food is very overpriced and the menu is limited (a most-likely microwaved cheese pizza and popcorn are the main staples). Here are some of my big tips/takeaways from my experience at the drive-in: We saw a wide variety of people - friends, families, couples - and it was very easy to both enter and leave. ![]() The drive-in has "ridges" on the parking spaces so that everyone gets an equally elevated view of the screen. The movie started on-time and it was great to see that the drive-in (which has a huge lot) was nearly completely full on a Friday night. In short, it was amazing! It was so fun and everything was ran very smoothly. I saw that the Paramount Drive-In wasn't terribly far away (and was playing a decent horror movie) so we decided to go on a Friday night. My friend from out-of-state came to visit me in LA for the weekend and one of the things on his "bucket list" was to see a drive-in movie.

Jennifer Anniston is his tart-tongued, dewy-eyed girlfriend, Emily who, inevitably tires of life on the road, which leads to the equally inevitable scene where Chris must choose between decadence and dewy eyes. With a dedicated video processing tool, you can convert 4K video and make it smaller – no matter whether you decide to keep the original resolution or downscale – without losing quality. Convert 4K to the best quality at smaller size: This is handy for 4K files from iPhone, GoPro videos, DJI, and DLSR cameras.4K converter can change codec, convert VFR to CFR, and manage other codec settings. While Breakdown used the same map as State of Decay, but introduced an endless, plotless "sandbox" modes, Lifeline moves the action to the nearby city of Danforth, and builds the action around a military base, the beleaguered Black Friday (so called because of the crowds trying to get through the gates). Lifeline maintains this system, but makes some significant changes. Lifeline reuses much of the content of State of Decay, including the endlessly amusing " on fire" animations As characters are hurt, fatigued or killed, the player shifts control to another - so, it is possible to finish the game with an entirely different roster of survivors than the starting group. Once occupied, a base could be adapted to supply the group's needs with gardens, medical facilities and so on. The player assembled survivors - some with backstories sketched out through dialog and character-specific missions, others with little more than a few personality quirks on their character profiles - and used them to loot abandoned shops, find buildings usable as refuges and persuade survivors from other enclaves to join up through acts of charity. State of Decay, along with its survival-mode expansion Breakdown, was in many ways like Romero's Dawn of the Dead, except set across a group of miniature towns in a valley in the American South rather than in a single mall. ![]() Although probably not as much as being torn in half by zombies. The most common killers in the world of State of Decay are overconfidence and exhaustion.Įvery physical action - moving at more than a jog, swinging a bat at a zombie's head or rolling out of the path of a charging mutant - drains stamina, and an exhausted character will struggle to fight off more than one zombie, risking being cut off from their vehicle, dragged to the ground and torn in half.Īn unwary warmbody can experience the fate of the bikers in Dawn of the Dead - from being amused by the clumsy, unthinking zombies to being amuse-bouches for the same zombies - startlingly quickly, And, with RPG-lite mechanisms offering improved health and stamina levels, boosted movement and combat abilities and weapon-specific special attacks, losing a favorite character can really hurt. Although the zombies are easy enough to kill individually, hordes, accompanied by mutant zombies with unusual strength or speed, or the ability to release paralyzing screams or noxious gas, can get dangerous. In classic style, the survivors have to find shelter, fortify a base and scavenge for supplies. The player controls a group of survivors, moving control from one to the other as they grow tired or wounded. Now, when they die, they get up and kill. If a game like Techland's upcoming Dying Light is intended to be a "AAA" zombie experience - something akin to World War Z - State of Decay is probably the closest approximation to the classic George Romero splatterpunk experience, iffy production values and all. These should be pretty serious issues - this kind of glitching in a Call of Duty game would occasion howls of outrage, and that outrage would not be seen as unjust. ![]() Most of DeKay's work has been on or off Broadway, in regional theater, and on national tours. Regular cleaning of your swing set will help prevent stains in the wood or rotting due to wet wood. You will also prevent stretching or tearing of vinyl or fabric canopy roofs because they will not be exposed to harsh winds or have snow sitting on them all winter. By removing these parts and storing them indoors for the winter you will extend their usable life and avoid any deterioration of the plastic. These parts might include swings, gliders, rope ladders, and even the canopy roof. If you do not cover the entire playset with a tarp during the winter months, you may want to consider removing any parts that can be easily detached. Remove Any Detachable PartsĪgain, this step might only apply if you live in an area with cold, snowy winters or are not able to utilize your swing set all year around. Otherwise you will need to cut and stain your own wood to fit or contact the manufacturer to purchase replacements. As long as your swing set is still under warranty, the company may replace these boards. While splintering wood can easily be fixed by sanding the pieces, any cracked or rotting boards should be replaced immediately. ![]() If parts are beginning to rust or you see cracks, these parts should be replaced immediately to avoid injuries.Īll wood components should be inspected for splinters and cracking. Metal parts can also be lubricated with vegetable oil to keep them moving smoothly. Plastic components should be inspected for cracks while metal parts should be checked for rust. You may also want to tighten all nuts and bolts as required. Especially at the beginning of the season you should check all bots and screws to make sure they are not sticking out precariously or broken off causing sharp edges. While some regular maintenance items or fixes will be obvious you will want to look closer at other components such as the swing chains, plastic components, and small hardware. For those that do not use their set in the winter months it is best to do an inspection in the spring before your kids start using it and then at least 2 more times before the end of the season. If you live in an area where your kids are fortunate enough to use their set all year around, then an inspection should be done once a month. It is important to the safety and longevity or your playset to complete a regular inspection of all of its components. Make sure you know what not to do when staining your wooden swing set! Do Regular Inspections Hopefully this will mean not having to do this step quite as often. This will not only protect the wood from the elements but will help the stain and sealant last longer. If you live in an area that has cold and snowy winters or a season when the swing set will not be in use, you may want to consider covering it with a tarp. You should also begin staining from the top down so if the stain drips you can blend it in to the wood as you go. When putting stain on the swing set be careful not to get it on plastic or rubber components as it can permanently leave stain marks on them. Staining should be done every 2-3 years or as needed to keep the wood looking nice. Staining the wood is also an important maintenance step. ![]() Some sealants come with a tint if you want to enhance the wood’s color slightly but prefer not to or do not feel the need to re-stain everything. It is usually a good idea to reseal the wood on your set every 1-2 years. It doesn’t matter whether you use an oil or water based sealant as long as it is waterproof and protects against UV rays. You can also purchase waterproof sealant at a local hardware store such as Home Depot or Lowe’s. Some companies, like Gorilla Playsets, sell a commercial grade playground sealant that will provide a protective layer against moisture, mold, mildew, and sun. ![]() If they are not pre-sealed it is recommended that you seal the wood within 60-90 days after construction.Ī waterproof sealant will prolong the life of your swing set by limiting the moisture that can seep into the wood and protecting it from UV rays as well. Most brands will come with these components already pre-stained and/or pre-sealed. One of the most important things you can do when it comes to increasing the life of your wooden play structure is to keep all of the wood stained and sealed. If you sprinkle the cornstarch directly into the wok, it will clump together and the sauce won’t thicken much. That way it will combine well with the sauce in the wok. Top tip: when using cornflour (or cornstarch) make sure to dilute the powder with 2-3 tablespoons of water and mix well with a fork. Alternatively, you could use vegan chicken stock, which we would highly recommend. It also uses cornflour (or cornstarch) to thicken the sauce. Usually it's made with non-vegan broth but we’ve used veggie stock to make sure it’s plant based. Coincidentally, that was the holiday where we decided we wanted to live a bit differently, quit our jobs and earn independently of a 9 to 5 job (more on that in our About Us section though!). However, we never thought to make it at home until 2 years later, after returning to Thailand for a holiday. They specify how much an atom in a chemical molecule has been oxidised. It will help you rapidly scale this technique so you can learn at least 3x faster. The oxidation number, also known as the oxidation state, is the charge that an atom would have if all of its links to other atoms were entirely ionic. And for that, I have a FREE Memory Improvement Kit I’d love you to have: The trick is to really understand the Memory Palace technique. Now that you have a fun and easy alternative to using acronyms, why not continue piling on more memory skills?įor example, you can use similar approach to help yourself learn all about: I suggest that you secure the diatomic element in the Memory Palace first, then add the numbers you need after. This will give you an image for every 2-digit number from 00-99. If you want to know the number of the element itself on the Periodic Table of the Elements, please consider developing a PAO System. This works by giving you an image for each and every number.įor example, you can add a swan’s wings to help you remember H2 because swans look a lot like 2. If you want to also know the atomic numbers, learn to use the Major System and the P egword Method. Personalize is the key to forming effective active recall. If you don’t know who the Mario Brothers are, think of some other brothers for Bromine. Obviously, you’ll want to work with examples that make sense to you. The hydroplane reminds me of hydrone, and since Batman is the “Dark Knight,” nitrogen instantly comes to mind.Ĭan you guess why I’ve chosen the other examples? Give it a try! What I’ve done is encoded them in a story that uses as many pop culture references as possible. ![]() But if you want to know how to remember diatomic molecules, this is by far the easiest way. This story is so much easier to remember than the list elements. It goes into a diner only to find that it’s been replaced by a swimming pool filled with turtles from Super Mario Brothers. Imagine, for example, that this is happening in your bedroom:Ī hydroplane operated by Batman is shooting roses at an ox. But I predict you’ll be much better served by using the story and linking method. Now, you can distribute the words of a mnemonic throughout a Memory Palace. Step Two: Use Pop Culture To Create Highly Memorable Associations Then you’re going to pair the seven diatomic elements to each of the spots you’ve identified in the room. The point is to identify a few locations that make sense to you. Obviously, the room you use will look different than this. Let’s say we have a bedroom that looks like this: We just need to pick a room and assign seven distinct spots in it. Step One: Create A Seven Station Memory PalaceĪ Memory Palace is simply a mental recreation of a home, office or other familiar building.Īlthough you can memorize all of these molecules according to location by noticing that everything after hydrogen makes a “seven” shape on the right side of the Periodic Table, we can do better. Note: If you’re really keen, you can use the same technique to memorize the entire Periodic Table of the Elements. Let’s look at what it is and how it works step-by-step. You can use it to learn languages much faster, and it will help you never forget a name again.Īnd since you’re dealing with just seven elements, this simple task won’t take long at all. People have used it to memorize and recite entire books backwards and forwards. The technique I’m going to teach you has been used for thousands of years. Great! Let’s dig in! How to Remember The Diatomic Elements in 3 Steps Ready to learn the best diatomic elements mnemonic available? You can be a better professional in your career.Īnd you can use the superior memory techniques that get all the information you need into memory for many other aspects of your learning life. How does that acronym help you memorize the name and number of each and every element?Īnd when we do, you can sit for exams with great confidence.
